Joyce Thompson Howard is a native of Alexandria, Virginia who currently resides in Herndon, Virginia. Her God-given passion is helping others, and she has lived out this desire both in her career and in ministry. Her 40+ year professional career span has had her working first as an optician, and then as a medical office manager. In service to the church, Joyce has served as an ordained deacon, and currently as a licensed and ordained minister. The array of various roles Joyce has filled in ministry include praise dancer/dance ministry, usher, head of outreach ministries, head of family ministers, Sunday school teacher, overseer for weddings and funerals, and adjunct minister. 
Joyce believes that justice work is important because God sees us all the same; and that is the way he created us. No one race or sex is better than another. Spreading the gospel through outreach and action is her call from God, using words only when necessary. As the Financial Director of CUASI, Joyce is lending her wisdom, rich experiences and expertise to the Board to further the Kingdom of God.
